France 24: aura battles leap from social media to Latin America streets

AFP’s English file on France 24, 22 August, reports the Bellas Artes gathering in Mexico City and says the same street format is showing up in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. Organizer Aldhir Gonzalez, 22, tells the wire the crowd picks whoever looks best, gets the laughs, and holds their nerve. A Honduras mayor banned the battles; a Venezuelan psychologist argues they get teens into the same square. No French plaza date in the piece.

Uncertain: Paris English wire. We do not name a minor as the story.
