Plaza battles spread from Mexico City across Latin America
CNN’s 24 August report framed aura battles as a new plaza sport: crowd-judged, often prize-optional, and built for phones, with a University of Costa Rica championship in San José among the week’s examples. Fast Company described similar scenes in Monterrey, at Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, and in Brazilian parks. Mexico News Daily also cited Juárez Park in Xalapa and dated the UCR championship to 18 August; we have not independently counted those crowds.
Uncertain: CNN’s “Tuesday” wording and Mexico News Daily’s 18 August date for UCR do not line up cleanly. Treat the Costa Rica date as reported, not verified here.
